The Junior Brekkie Club:
Where Community Gathers Over Play and Plates
If you live in a typical building in a metro city, you know the drill — hundreds of flats, a play area, maybe a tennis court, and a WhatsApp group that’s mostly complaints and lost courier alerts. You might wave at a few familiar faces in the elevator, but a real connection? Tends to be rare. That’s the reason behind The Junior Brekkie Club (JBC).JBC is our way of bringing residents — especially parents and their young children — together in a more meaningful, regular way. Once a month, we host themed Sunday morning gatherings for kids and parents to get outside, try something new, and connect with their neighbours.
From Holi paint parties and Easter egg hunts, to a "Sports Day" with parent-kid races and plant-your-own-herb sessions, the activities change, but what stays constant is the shared laughter, fresh air, and the post-activity potluck breakfast. It’s a simple idea: get people off their screens and out into the sunshine. Let kids make new friends. Let parents finally have that “Oh! You live on my floor?” moment. Build a real sense of community — one Sunday at a time. Because life’s better when you know who you’re living next to.
